Chairman 

The main purpose of the Chairman’s “job” is to 

  • Continuing the development and strategy of the club in accordance with the Club Constitution
  • Chair the  Management Committee meetings (3 or 4 per annum) and ensure decisions are made by all committee members
  • Chair the  Annual General meeting (AGM)
  • Publicise the club positively in the local community and in the triathlon world

This like all Committee members needs someone who 

  • Most important of all, is a regular at our Club training sessions.
  • Has been a member for more than 2 years and is a triathlete with experience in triathlon coaching and racing 
  • Knows most of the club members and is very friendly with almost everyone.

Honorary Secretary

The main purpose of the Honorary Secretary’s “job” is to 

  • Organise and minute the Committee meetings
  • Organise and minute the AGM

This like all Committee members needs someone who 

  • Most important of all, is a regular at our Club training sessions.
  • Has been a member for more than 12 months and is a triathlete with some experience in racing 
  • Knows most of the club members and is very friendly with almost everyone.

Honorary Treasurer 

The main purpose of the Honorary Treasurer’s “job” is to 

  • be responsible for the finances of the club
  • Present a statement of annual accounts at the AGM

This like all Committee members needs someone who 

  • Most important of all, is a regular at our Club training sessions.
  • Has been a member for more than 12 months and is a triathlete with some experience in racing 
  • Knows most of the club members and is very friendly with almost everyone.

Membership Secretary

The main purpose of the Membership Secretary’s “job” is to 

  • Look after all membership applications and new members.
  • Prepare the statement of membership income for the annual accounts at the Annual General Meeting
  • Co-ordinate the annual renewals of membership

In more detail:

  • Monitor membership enquiry emails and respond within 24 hours based on standard response
  • Keep standard response up to date
  • Check membership applications and present to Committee 
  • Recommend whether each application should be accepted or rejected
  • Prepare welcome packs and keep club brochure up to date
  • Ensure stock of items in welcome pack and order as necessary, budget for Treasurer
  • Send welcome email 
  • Keep welcome email up to date 
  • Introduce club captains to of new members
  • Deputise for the club secretary in their absence. 

This like all Committee members needs someone who 

  • Most important of all, is a regular at our Club training sessions.
  • Has been a member for more than 12 months and is a triathlete with some experience in racing 
  • Knows most of the club members and is very friendly with almost everyone.

Honorary Assistant Treasurer(s) (non committee posts)

The main purpose of the Assistants “job(s)” is to 

  • Assist with the collection and monitoring of payments for swim sessions and ensuring booking costs are covered by the payments
  • Assist with the collection and monitoring of other payments to the club including eg, club kit, xmas party, velodrome sessions 
  • Assist the Race Director in the preparation of the Race Budget and present to the Treasurer for Committee approval
  • Payment of monies collected into the club account
  • Deputise for the Treasurer as required

This also needs someone/ones who 

  • Most important of all, is a regular at our Club training sessions.
  • Has been a member for more than 12 months and is a triathlete with some experience in racing 
  • Knows most of the club members and is very friendly with almost everyone.

Coach 

The main purpose of the Coaches “job” is to 

  • Prepare and present coaching sessions for club group swim and run sessions (provide guidelines for bike sessions as we do not coach on open roads)
  • Run pool swim sessions to in accordance with the guidelines on the website
  • Coach sessions on a regular basis, (every 3 or 4 weeks)
  • Attend the 3 coaches meetings per year when the coaching rota is organised and coaching matters are discussed
  • Publicise the club coaching positively in the local community and in the triathlon world

This like all the existing coaches needs someone who 

  • Most important of all, is a regular at our Club training sessions.
  • Also very importantly has shown the ability to be coached and fit in to club group sessions with other participants
  • Agrees with the club ethos and is willing to commit to coaching at the club for a substantial period, also to eventually take the level 2 qualification after an initial period at Level 1
  • Has been a member for more than 2 years and is committed to staying with the Club for many years to come.
  • is a triathlete with experience in triathlon racing 
  • Knows most of the club members and is very friendly with almost everyone.

Senior / Lead Coach 

  • The Senior / Lead Coaches also takes responsibility for one or more of the following 
  • Booking the Recreation Centre swim slots (October to April)  
  • liaise with the Treasurer over any tweaking of the block swim payments to ensure Recreation Centre costs are covered 
  • Booking the Lido swim slots (April to September) 
  • liaise with the Treasurer over any tweaking of the block swim payments to ensure Lido costs are covered
  • Chairing the coaches meetings and co-ordinate the swim coaching rotas
  • Plan the themes for the seasonal swim sessions
  • Co-ordinate the bike sessions and publish a schedule for each season
  • Co-ordinate the run sessions and publish a schedule for each season.

Procedure for a member to become a Club Coach

Any member who would like to become a coach should approach one of the Senior / Lead Coaches to discuss the idea and explain why they would like to become a coach and how they fulfil the requirements outlined above.

This information should then be passed to the Committee members who monitor the number of coaches and availability of funds to pay for the courses. The Committee will decide on whether / when to proceed with the new coach.  

The information will also be passed on to the coaches meeting.

Ironman South Africa

Jez completes Iron Man South Africa

Membership is open to all Triathletes who enjoy racing locally, around the UK, or anywhere else in the world, as well as newcomers to the sport who aim to complete their first triathlon race.

Currently we have over 100 members and our membership subscription is £40 per calendar year. This includes registration to the Time Trial Association and the Amateur Athletics Association which allows members to compete in bike time trials and running events with discounted entry.

Club members at the club relay competition

We are a very active and friendly club that meets regularly for training and we have over 100 members, who compete at all levels of the sport, from beginners to GB team members. As well as regular training session, the club organises social events which are a great way to get to know the other members.

Our membership includes a team of over 20 BTA qualified coaches which enables us to provide coaching suitable for all abilities.  You can find out more about our coaches and coaching philosphy in the training section and in the club brochure.

Each year we organise an annual Off-Road Sprint Triathlon event based at the Cheltenham Leisure Centre which is always very popular and is a great introduction to Triathlon.This year we are also organising a junior triathlon for the first time - See Tri In The Park for more details

At the end of the triathlon season we have an annual club team relay competition and barbeque at Lake 62 which has proved to be very popular.
